Copyright & Takedown Policy
Last updated: September 2026
Introduction
Settee stores a copy of the pages you save so that you can read them later. We respect the intellectual property rights of others, and we respond to notices of claimed copyright infringement. This page explains what a notice needs to contain and where to send it.
Settee is operated by Satiate Studio Ltd ("we", "us", or "our"). We are the service provider for the purposes of the United States Digital Millennium Copyright Act (the "DMCA"), and we have designated an agent to receive notifications of claimed infringement as described below.
How to send a takedown notice
If you believe that material stored through Settee infringes a copyright you own or control, send a written notice to our designated agent. To be effective, your notice must include all of the following:
- A physical or electronic signature of a person authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed, or, if multiple copyrighted works are covered by the notice, a representative list of such works.
- Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing, or to be the subject of infringing activity, and that is to be removed or have access disabled — together with information reasonably sufficient to let us locate it. A link to the page you saved, or the URL of the original article, is the most useful thing you can give us.
- Information reasonably sufficient to permit us to contact you, such as an address, a telephone number, and, if available, an email address.
- A statement that you have a good faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.
Please send notices to the designated agent rather than to our general support address. Notices sent elsewhere may not reach the person responsible for acting on them.
Our designated agent
Our designated agent is registered in the United States Copyright Office's Designated Agent
Directory under registration number DMCA-1080414, as required by section 512(c)
of the DMCA. Notices of claimed copyright infringement should be sent to:
Copyright Agent
Satiate Studio Ltd
71-75 Shelton Street
Covent Garden
London WC2H 9JQ
United Kingdom
Telephone: +44 20 3951 5724
Email: copyright@satiate.studio
The agent is a role rather than a named individual, so these contact details stay valid regardless of who within the company handles notices at any given time.
What happens next
When we receive a valid notice, we will respond by removing or disabling access to the material identified in it. Where the material was saved by a user of Settee, we may forward a copy of your notice to that user, so that they have the opportunity to respond — see what a counter-notice must contain.
It is our policy, in appropriate circumstances and at our discretion, to disable or terminate the accounts of users who repeatedly infringe copyrights or other intellectual property rights.
Please be aware that you may be held liable for damages, including costs and legal fees, if you make material misrepresentations in a takedown notice. If you are not sure whether material infringes your copyright, you should consider taking legal advice before sending a notice.
If your saved copy was removed — counter-notice
If we removed or disabled access to material you had saved in Settee in response to a copyright notice, you can send us a counter-notice. A counter-notice is a formal statement that the removal was a mistake or a misidentification, and it is how you ask us to restore access.
A counter-notice must be in writing and must contain all of the following:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the material that was removed or disabled, and where it appeared before we removed it — the URL is enough, and your account email address helps us find the removal.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good faith belief that the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification of the material.
- Your name, address and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the Federal District Court for the judicial district in which your address is located — or, if your address is outside the United States, for any judicial district in which Satiate Studio Ltd may be found — and that you will accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice, or from their agent.
Send it to our designated agent at copyright@satiate.studio, or by post to the
address above. We will send a copy of your counter-notice — including the contact details in
it — to the person who sent the original notice, and tell them that we will replace the
removed material or cease disabling access to it in 10 business days. Unless they notify us
that they have filed a court action seeking an order to restrain you, we will restore access
not less than 10, and not more than 14, business days after we receive your counter-notice.
Restoring access means the address becomes savable again. A takedown deletes every saved copy across every account, so a restore cannot put copies back into anyone's library.
A counter-notice is a legal statement. If you knowingly misrepresent that material was removed or disabled by mistake or misidentification, you may be liable for damages, including costs and legal fees.
If you are not sure whether the removal was a mistake, consider taking legal advice before sending one.
UK and EU rights holders
The notice procedure above is the one we operate for all claims, wherever you are based. The United Kingdom and the European Union do not maintain an equivalent register of designated agents, so there is no separate filing to reference: rights holders in the UK and the EU can use the same designated agent contact details. If you are a UK or EU consumer with a complaint about the Services generally, our general contact address below is the right route.
